When I questioned the installer about the 3.0 ton compressor in the Gibson unit that was labeled as a 3.5ton system I was given somewhat of a questionable explanation. Since this summers heat has kicked in the system does not seem to cool the house as well as would be expected. The manufacturers label on the outside of the Gibson condensor coils is labeled as a model "JS5BU-042K" (3.5ton) and has a Copeland Scroll compressor model# "ZR36K3-PFV-230" (3.0ton ARI rated) inside.

The system installed was a split system that was built by Nordyne and sold as a Gibson unit. The calculation showed that this particular house would require a 3.5 ton compressor for cooling. Prior to construction I had a contractor do a "Manual J" calculation on the required HVAC system. I have recently purchased a newly built home. Our 20th year anniversary is May 21, 2020.
